LLOYDMINSTER, Sask. — Kevin Darrar tied the game in the third period, then scored the winner 54 seconds into overtime on Monday to give the host Lloydminster Bobcats their first victory of the RBC Cup, a 4-3 win over the Carleton Place Canadians.

Darrar found the back of the net both times with his team on the power play. Nick Quillan assisted on both goals.

Noah Bauld and Greg Moro also scored for the Bobcats (1-1-0) and Austin O'Rourke had three assists.

Bryce Van Horn led Carleton Place (0-1-1) with a goal and a helper. Brett Murray and Maxime St. Pierre rounded out the offence.

Lloydminster goaltender Alex Leclerc kicked out 26 shots for the win. Colton Point made 41 saves for the Canadians.

All three Carleton Place goals and two of Lloydminster's were scored in a busy first period for both goalies.

The Bobcats opened the preliminary round of the tournament with a 5-2 loss to West Kelowna Warriors on Saturday. The Canadians fell 3-1 to the Trenton Golden Hawks in their first game on Sunday.

Round-robin action continues through Thursday with the semifinals and final scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
