The Washington Capitals got quite the scare Wednesday morning during practice at the Air Canada Centre when star goalie Braden Holtby got run over by centre Marcus Johansson.

Holtby stayed down on the ice for a short while before getting up and was able to continue practicing. Both Holtby and Johansson said they were fine after the practice.

“I’m fine. It was just a practice play. It happens. You get hit sometimes. It’s hockey," Holtby told TSN's Mark Masters.

Johansson said Holtby came out a little further than he expected and was trying to avoid a T.J. Oshie shot when the collision occurred.

“You never want to see anyone get hurt out there," said Johansson. "That was unfortunate, but it happens. But he’s all right.”

Holtby, 27, posted a 42-13-6 record with a 2.07 goals-against average and a 0.925 save percentage with nine shutouts in 2016-17, numbers that will put him in contention for this year's Vezina Trophy. The Saskatchewan native won the award last season.

Holtby is 1-2 this postseason with a 2.74 GAA and a 0.914 SV.

The Caps will look to even their first-round series against the Toronto Maple Leafs at two games apiece Wednesday night at the ACC.
