Caps re-sign Orlov to one-year, $2.57M deal
The Washington Capitals looked primed to lock up a key restricted free agent. CSN Mid-Atlantic's Tarik El-Bashir reports the team is closing in on a new deal with defenceman Dmitry Orlov. The 25-year-old native of Novokuznetsk, Russia is currently on international duty at the World Cup of Hockey.

The Washington Capitals have locked up a key restricted free agent.
The team announced on Wednesday that defenceman Dmitry Orlov had agreed to a one-year, $2.57 million deal. The 25-year-old native of Novokuznetsk, Russia is currently on international duty at the World Cup of Hockey.
Orlov appeared in all 82 games for the Presidents' Trophy winners last season, his first full National Hockey League campaign. He had eight goals and 21 assists in 16:01 minutes a night.
Orlov earned $2.25 million last season.
Originally drafted in the second round (55th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, Orlov has amassed 14 goals and 46 assists in 201 career games over parts of four seasons.
The Capitals open training camp on Thursday in Arlington, Virginia.
