Could Travis Zajac be heading to the Toronto Maple Leafs?

According to Rich Chere of the Star-Ledger in New Jersey, the Leafs and Devils may have a trade on the table that would send the 30-year-old centre to Toronto.

It is believed, Chere writes, that Maple Leafs general manager Lou Lamoriello is discussing several potential trade scenarios with Devils GM Ray Shero, including centre Nazem Kadri as a potential piece of a trade or a package deal that includes winger James van Riemsdyk.

Zajac is entering the third year of an eight-year, $46 million contract. He has five years and $31.75 million remaining on his deal with a cap hit of $5.75 million.

The Winnipeg native was drafted by Lamoriello's Devils in 2004 with the 20th overall pick and has spent his entire career with the Devils.

Through nine seasons in New Jersey, he's registered 348 points in 625 games. Last season, he scored 11 goals and added 14 assists in 74 games.
