Syracuse Crunch forward Jake Dotchin has a received a three-game suspension from the American Hockey League for an interference incident on Toronto Marlies forward Frederik Gauthier.

Gauthier underwent lower-body surgery as a result of the incident, which occurred in the second period of Game 2, and will miss up to six months. Dotchin received a major penalty and a game misconduct for interference on the play.

The Crunch lead the best-of-seven series 2-0. 

Gauthier, 22, in 21 games with the Maple Leafs this season, scoring two goals and adding one assist. He posted one goal and three assists in six playoff games with the Marlies. 

Gauthier had been expected to compete for the Maple Leafs fourth-line centre role next season, though the surgery keep him sidelined until November.

He was selected 21st overall in the 2013 NHL Draft by the Maple Leafs.

Dotchin, a sixth-round pick of the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2012, owns no points through six playoff games.
