Josh Jooris and the Calgary Flames avoided arbitration, agreeing on a US$975,000, one-year deal Friday.

Jooris's arbitration hearing was scheduled for July 28.

The 25-year-old had 12 goals and 12 assists in 60 games this past season as a rookie.

The Burlington, Ont., native appeared in nine playoff games for Calgary.

The Flames also signed Turner Elson to a one-year deal.

The St. Albert, Alta., native spent last year with Calgary's AHL team, the Adirondack Flames. He scored 17 goals and 13 assists in 59 games.

Earlier this week, the Flames signed restricted-free-agent centre Lance Bouma to a $6.6-million, three-year deal.

Calgary has one more RFA scheduled for arbitration: forward Paul Byron, who would have his hearing July 30 if no agreement can be reached before then.
