New York Islanders
Jaroslav Halak (groin) will not participate in the first round of the playoffs. Halak has been skating, but as Islanders coach Jack Capuano recently stated, he's "still a ways away." - NY Daily News
New York Rangers
At this point it's not clear if Ryan McDonagh (hand) is likely to play at all in the first round. McDonagh did join the Rangers for Tuesday's practice, but he was wearing a non-contact jersey. "I would say at this point, there’s a chance he might be able to play at some point," coach Alain Vigneault said. - The Bergen Record
St. Louis Blues
David Backes (lower body) will be available for Game 1. Backes didn't skate on Monday, but he did participate in Tuesday's practice. He missed the Blues' last three regular season contests with the goal of being ready for the start of the playoffs. - St. Louis Post-Dispatch
