Toronto Blue Jays starter Aaron Sanchez will make his scheduled regular season start against the Tampa Bay Rays, manager John Gibbons confirmed on Wednesday.

Sanchez, who will make his firs start on Saturday, Apr. 8, was dealing with a blister on his pitching hand in his most recent start and struggled against the Philadelphia Phillies, leaving the game after 3.1 innings and allowing four earned runs on five hits with three walks.

The 24-year-old is not expected to pitch in the weekend series in Montreal, when the Blue Jays wrap the Spring schedule against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Sanchez was the AL ERA leader last season finishing with a 3.00 mark and also posted a 15-2 record in 192 innings.  He struck out 161 hitters with 63 walks and made 30 starts.
