The Los Angeles Kings placed veteran centre Brooks Laich on waivers on Friday, one day after acquiring Torrey Mitchell from the Montreal Canadiens.

Laich owns one assist and a minus-5 rating in 12 games with the Kings this season. He signed with Los Angeles on Oct. 19 after spending training camp with the team on a professional tryout contract.

The 34-year-old spent all of last season in the AHL with the Toronto Marlies, though he only played in 27 games.

Mitchell, acquired Thursday for a conditional fifth-round draft pick, did not record a point in 11 games with the Canadiens this season.
