NEW YORK, N.Y. - The NHL has fined Anaheim Ducks defenceman Sami Vatanen US$3,393.82 for elbowing Toronto Maple Leafs forward David Booth.

Vatanen hit Booth what appeared to be an inadvertent elbow at 9:35 of the third period of Anaheim's 4-0 win over Toronto on Wednesday.

Booth went to the Maple Leafs' dressing room after the hit and did not return to the game.

The fine is the maximum allowable under the collective bargaining agreement between the NHL and the NHL Players' Association.
