The NHL salary cap appears to be on the rise for the 2016-17 season.

TSN's Darren Dreger reports the salary cap could be as high as $74.5 million next season, which would raise the cap ceiling $3.1 million from this season's $71.4 million cap - a five per cent increase.

Dreger adds the salary cap could, however, remain closer to its current mark.
