Fans in Winnipeg will have to wait at least two more years for an outdoor game.
In a statement released by True North Sports & Entertainment Limited, it was announced that a date was unable to be finalized to hold the Heritage Classic at Investors Group Field for next season.
The Winnipeg Blue Bombers play at Investors Group Field but the CFL season does not run when the Classic is typically held.
The statement said that both the NHL and True North Sports & Entertainment Limited are hopeful that a date can be secured for the 2016-17 season.
There was a report on Monday that the Boston Bruins will host the Montreal Canadiens at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. in the 2016 Winter Classic.
Also Tuesday, the Edmonton Oilers announced that they would play a pre-season game at the SaskTelCentre in Saskatoon, Sask. against the Minnesota Wild on September 26.
Last year, the Oilers hosted the Blackhawks in Saskatoon for a pre-season contest. The New York Islanders and Calgary Flames played a game in Regina in 2013.
