Buffalo Sabres centre Ryan O'Reilly has been charged with impaired driving after colliding with a Tim Hortons building in Lucan, Ontario. The incident was first reported by London radio station AM980.

Ontario Provincial Police announced Monday O’Reilly was charged after his pickup truck struck a Tim Hortons early Thursday morning. O’Reilly was also charged with failing to remain at the scene.

Police say a suspect drove the vehicle a ways before abandoning it on foot with another person. O'Reilly is scheduled to face the charges in London, Ontario court on August 20.

The former second-rounder signed a seven-year, $52.5 million contract extension with the Buffalo Sabres earlier this month.

Sabres general manager Tim Murray released a statement later on Monday regarding the incident.

"We are aware of the reports regarding the incident involving Ryan O'Reilly last week. We are currently in the process of gathering more information and will have no further comment until we have spoken with all parties involved."
