The Florida Panthers have signed restricted free-agent forward Reilly Smith to a five-year, $25 million contract extension.

The 25-year-old scored 25 goals and added 25 assists for 50 points over 82 games with the Panthers in 2015-16, his first season with the club. He scored four goals and added four helpers over six playoff games as the Panthers were eliminated in the first-round by the New York Islanders.

Smith has one-year left on his current contract with a cap hit of $3.425 million. 

The Toronto native has 61 goals and 89 assists for 150 points over 285 career games with the Dallas Stars, Boston Bruins and Panthers. Smith was selected in the third round, 69th overall, of the 2009 NHL Draft by the Stars.
