New Jersey Devils forward Mike Cammalleri suffered a setback while rehabbing his right hand/wrist injury and his status for the remainder of the season is suddenly in doubt.

“There's a possibility for (him missing the rest of the season),” Devils head coach Hynes told Tom Gulitti of the NorthJersey.com. “I don't mean to be dodging the question. It's one of those things where we felt he was coming in the right direction. There was a setback.”

Cammalleri has been out of the Devils lineup since suffering the Injury on Jan. 26. In 42 games this season, the 33-year-old has 14 goals and 24 assists.

“He's not close right now,” Hynes added. “I would say it's beyond day to day now.”

Entering Friday night, the Devils sit one point of the final wild card spot in the Eastern Conference, though they have played three more games than then Pittsburgh Penguins, who own the one-point lead.

Cammalleri is signed through the 2018-19 season.
