Each night during the Stanley Cup Playoffs, TSN Hockey analyst and former NHL goaltender Jamie McLennan provides his Post 2 Post rankings for every goaltender in action. On Thursday, Matt Murray was in control and very good on post plays in helping the Capitals beat the Penguins in Game 1.

Pittsburgh Penguins 3, Washington Capitals 4

Matt Murray (2) - He was solid early on, in control and very good on post plays as he made big saves on Jason Chimera and Justin Williams. He robbed Alex Ovechkin two times when he was in alone, but let in a bad goal on T.J. Oshie’s s second thought the body. For the overtime winner, he was a bit too aggressive on the original play off the rush and recovered nicely, but the puck just got pooped across the line by his own stick.

Braden Holtby (4) - Weird game for Holtby, who faced a barrage of shots and then was quiet for stretches. The puck was bouncing and redirecting all night long. Although Evgeni Malkin makes a great shot, I didn’t like the short side goal. He was really calm with pucks in his crease and did not panic when there were scrambles.
