The Nashville Predators have reached a two-year contract extension with head coach Peter Laviolette, the team announced on Saturday.

The 51-year-old is heading into his third year behind the bench for the Predators after joining the team ahead of the 2014/15 season.

Laviolette has led the franchise into the playoffs in both seasons posting 47 wins in his first season and 41 during the 2015/16 campaign.

The Franklin, Massachusetts native has also coached the Philadelphia Flyers and the Carolina Hurricanes where he helped capture the 2005/06 Stanley Cup Championship.
