LONDON - Chris Ramsey has been hired as the manager of Queens Park Rangers on a three-year deal, despite overseeing the club's relegation from the English Premier League in a short spell as interim coach.

QPR chairman Tony Fernandes says Tuesday the club's board has been "impressed with the professionalism and attention to detail" Ramsey demonstrated since replacing Harry Redknapp in February.

Under Ramsey, QPR has won two of its 12 games. The team's relegation to the second-tier League Championship was confirmed by a 6-0 loss at Manchester City on May 10.

Ramsey's task next season will not be made any easier by QPR potentially facing heavy financial sanctions for overspending the last time it dropped out of the Premier League.

QPR's final game of the season is against Leicester on Sunday.
