SANDY, Utah - John Stertzer and Alvaro Saborio scored and Real Salt Lake beat New York City 2-0 on Saturday night to extend the expansion team's winless streak to 10 games.

Real Salt Lake (4-3-5) spoiled the homecoming of NYC coach Jason Kreis, who led RSL from 2007-13. New York City (1-7-4) has lost five of its last six games.

Stertzer scored his first MLS goal in the 25th minute after Devon Sandoval's glancing header was misplayed by the defence. Stertzer was first to the ball and he sent in a well-angled shot.

It was the eighth goal NYC has allowed in the first 30 minutes of a match.

Saborio headed in Luke Mulholland's cross in the 49th minute. Nick Rimando recorded his 120th career shutout.

NYC's best scoring chance came in the 17th minute when Mix Diskerud used a back-heel move to elude his defender, but his bending shot hit off the post. NYC goalkeeper Josh Saunders sprawled out to save Sandoval's breakaway shot in the 15th minute and he blocked Saborio's free kick in the 39th.
