Jon Jones’ tailspin continues as Reebok has cut sponsorship ties with the former light heavyweight champion “effective immediately.”

ESPN Business Sports writer Darren Rovell first broke the news via Twitter on Wednesday morning.

Mixed martial arts website MMAJunkie.com received a statement from the sports apparel giant saying, “in light of recent events, we have made the decision to terminate our contract with Jon Jones, effective immediately.”

Jones was stripped of his light heavyweight championship and suspended indefinitely for violating the UFC’s personal conduct policy Tuesday following a hit-and-run accident that left a pregnant woman with a broken arm.

According to the police, witnesses identified Jones as the driver of the vehicle in the crash, saying he immediately fled the scene and later return to grab a “a large handful of cash” before fleeing once again.

Police also found rental car documents in the car with Jones’ name on them and a pipe with marijuana present.

Jones appeared in court Tuesday morning but did not enter a plea and was released on $2,500 bond. The 27-year-old is facing a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving death or personal injuries.

The UFC star was scheduled to defend his light heavyweight title against Anthony Johnson in the main event at UFC 187 on May 23, but the vacated title will now be up for grabs between Johnson and Daniel Cormier.
