Calvin Johnson might be done with football.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, the Detroit Lions Pro Bowl wide receiver told his head coach Jim Caldwell that the 2015 season would be his last.

The 30-year-old Johnson told Caldwell the day after the Lions' season ended that he plans to retire. Johnson agreed to take some time to think about it, but according to one of Schefter's sources, "He's [Johnson] pretty content with his decision."

According to Schefter's sources, Johnson told his family and a few close friends that he planned on retiring after 2015 prior to the season even starting and also told quarterback Matthew Stafford and linebacker Stephen Tulloch as well. Johnson's request to Stafford and Tulloch was to keep the news quiet and confidential.

The Lions and Johnson released a joint statement earlier this month confirming Johnson was considering hanging up his cleats.

Johnson played in all 16 games this season for the 7-9 Lions, but has struggled with health problems, namely ankle and knee injuries the past few years. Johnson, a five-time Pro Bowler, caught 88 passes for 1,214 yards and nine touchdowns in 2015.

The nine-year veteran has played 165 games with 11,619 yards receiving and 83 TDs. Johnson has played in two playoff games in his career.

Johnson is widely considered sure bet to enter to the Pro Football Hall of Fame once he becomes eligible. He owns the NFL record for receiving yards in a season, with 1,964 in the 2012 season. He sits second in NFL history with an average of 86.1 receiving yards per game.
