The teardown of the San Diego Padres continues.

After trading James Shields to the Chicago White Sox earlier this month, the team has traded closer Fernando Rodney to the Miami Marlins.

ESPN's Keith Law reports the Padres will receive an A-ball prospect in exchange for the 39-year-old reliever.

In his 14th MLB season, Rodney has made 28 appearances for the Padres, with whom he signed a one-year, $2 million deal in February. He's 0-1 with a 0.31 ERA and a 0.872 WHIP. Rodney has 17 saves.

A two-time All-Star and a the American League saves leader in 2014 (with 48) as a member of the Seattle Mariners, Rodney has also spent time with the Detroit Tigers, Los Angeles Angels, Tampa Bay Rays and Chicago Cubs.
