Buffalo Sabres defenceman Mark Pysyk collapsed Saturday and was taken to a Rochester hospital for evaluation.

Pysyk - who was assigned to the American Hockey League's Rochester Americans on Friday - was taken by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital Saturday morning.

The 23-year-old has appeared in seven games with the Sabres this season, scoring two goals and one assist. He has appeared in 31 games with the Americans, registering one goal and 11 assists.

Pysyk was the Sabres' 2010 first-round draft pick (23rd overall) and has played 70 career games with the Sabres, scoring four goals and 11 assists.
