Buffalo Sabres forward Jason Akeson is scheduled for a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Friday for charging/illegal check to the head.

Midway through the third period on Wednesday, Akeson dished out a high hit on Colin Greening of the Ottawa Senators.

Greening was wobbly as he left the ice while Senators forward Travis Ewanyk engaged Akeson in a fight.

Akeson was not penalized for the hit but was assessed a fighting major while Ewanyk was handed a major for fighting, a minor for instigating and a 10-minute misconduct.
