Peter DeBoer is set to become the next head coach of the San Jose Sharks.

According to a report from TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun on ESPN.com, the Sharks are expected to announce DeBoer as their next head coach at a news conference on Thursday.

TSN's Darren Dreger reports DeBoer is believed to have agreed to a four-year contract with the Sharks.

DeBoer was fired by the New Jersey Devils 36 games into the season. It was DeBoer’s fourth year with the Devils, who has also coached the Florida Panthers.

He had a 114-93-41 record with the Devils and owns a 217-200-77 career record.

DoBoer will replace Todd McLellan after coach and team mutually agreed to part ways at the end of last season. McLellan is now the Edmonton Oilers head coach.
