Dallas Stars forward Patrick Eaves suffered a broken ankle after he was hit by a shot during Tuesday's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Eaves was hurt midway through the second period while standing in front of the Toronto net. He made his way to the bench and was helped to the dressing room by two teammates.

According to the Stars' website, head coach Lindy Ruff said Eaves' injury is "pretty bad" and that the best case scenario for a return would be 4-6 weeks, with a worst case of three months.

Eaves, 30, has three goals and five assists in 19 games this season.
