CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The whereabouts of two Cuban national soccer team midfielders are unknown ahead of the squad's Gold Cup match vs. Guatemala.

Dario Suarez and Aricheel Hernandez are listed as absent on the official roster delivered to referees minutes before Wednesday night's game in Charlotte. It is both nations' final match in group play.

Neither regional soccer officials nor Cuban delegation members immediately offered an explanation.

Cuban sports teams regularly see defections at international competitions.

Two other Cuban soccer players already abandoned the team in the United States on this trip. Forward Keiler Garcia defected in Chicago ahead of Cuba's match against Mexico and backup goalkeeper Arael Arguellez disappeared before the team travelled to Arizona.
