Abbotsford Cashspiel from Abbotsford, BC

Team John Morris of Vernon, BC won their first event since they reunited the foursome this season.  Skip Morris, fourth Jim Cotter, second Tyrel Griffith and lead Rick Sawatsky beat Team Ken McArdle in the final, 7-3.

The foursome played together during the 2013-14 season before Morris left for two seasons to play with Pat Simmons in Calgary.

The victory in Abbotsford moves them up to seventh on the CTRS.

 

Sunova Spiel from Winnipeg, MB

Purse: $10,000

Matt Dunstone picked up his first event win as a pro as his Winnipeg foursome downed David Bohn in the final, 3-1. Dunstone, a two-time Canadian junior champ, went a perfect 6-0 over the five-day event to take the title. This is his first year playing on the World Curling Tour after a very successful junior career.

Randy Bryden beat fellow native of Saskatoon, SK Bruce Korte, 5-4, in the championship game.

 

Challenge Casino de Charlevoix from Clermont, QC

Halifax's Stuart Thompson defeated Chad Stevens, also from Halifax, in the final, 7-4. It was the second win of the WCT season for Team Thompson. Team Stevens were going for their second event win as well.

 

Dawson Creek Cash Spiel from Dawson Creek, BC

Edmonton's Thomas Scoffin downed Warren Cross in the final, 6-4, for his first win of the year. 

 

Coors Light Cash Spiel from Duluth, Minnesota

Purse: $12,000 USD

Team Heath McCormick beat fellow American Team John Shuster 5-3 to claim the Coors Light Cash Spiel. They lost just once over the three-day event and it was their third event win of the season. The loss in the final was the first of the tournament for Shuster.

Halifax's Doug MacKenzie beat out Scott Saunders in the final, 8-6.

Boundary Ford Curling Classic from Lloydminster, AB

Purse: $22,000

Sherry Anderson of Saskatchewan picked up her first win of the 2016-17 season by beating Chantelle Eberle, also of Saskatchewan, in the championship game, 7-6. The foursome lost just once all week, including a defeat of Team Nadine Chyz, winners of three events this season, in the quarter-final. Casey Scheidegger fell in the semis to Eberle while 2016 Saskatchewan champ Jolene Campbell failed to make the playoff round.

Tracy Fleury of Sudbury coasted to an 8-1 victory over Winnipeg's Michelle Englot in the championship game. It's the perfect time for Team Fleury to pick up their first win of the season as they play in the Canada Cup from Brandon, MB starting Wednesday.

Nina Roth defeated fellow American Jamie Sinclair in the final, 5-3.

Six-time Scotties Tournament of Hearts champion Colleen Jones beat former teammate Mary-Anne Arsenault in the final, 6-2. Team Jones went a perfect 5-0 over the weekend to claim the title.
