Taylor leads all Canadians in U.S. Open final round; Conners withdraws

Nick Taylor's final round is underway as he leads the Canadian contingent at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania.

After scoring a 2-over-par 37 on the front nine, Taylor made up some ground with a birdie on 10.

Taylor began his day with a birdie but followed up with a double bogey on the second. The Winnipeg native recovered with a birdie on the par-5 fourth hole and briefly made his way into the top 10. 

During a rainy third round Saturday, Taylor hit bogeys on the fifth and eighth holes on the front nine before recovering in the back nine with birdies on the 12th and 17th holes to remain at even par, which had him sitting tied for 11th at 4-over for the tournament.

Corey Conners withdrew from the tournament shortly before he was scheduled to tee off for his final round on Sunday. The Listowel, Ont., native entered the final round at 8-over-par for the tournament and tied for 39th.

Taylor Pendrith of Richmond Hill, Ont., carded a 1-under-par 69 on Sunday to post his best round of the week and finished at 11-over for the tournament. 

Mackenzie Hughes of Hamilton, Ont., wrapped up his week with a 5-over-par 75 and came in at 14-over for the tournament.
