The Columbus Blue Jackets raised their offer to restricted free agent Ryan Johansen this week, but the two sides remain far apart in contract negotiations.

According to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun, the Blue Jackets improved their offer to $3.25 million per season on a two-year deal but Johansen's camp countered with a two-year, $9 million ask.

The 22-year-old has been unable to reach a new deal with the team since his three-year entry-level contract expired last season.

Johansen led Columbus in scoring last year after a breakout season where he tallied 33 goals and 30 assists.

The Blue Jackets open their season on October 9 against the Buffalo Sabres.
