Canada's women's national soccer team has moved up one spot to eighth in the latest FIFA World Rankings.

The top five nations in the world remained unchanged for March, with Germany, the United States, France, Japan and Sweden topping the list.

The Americans moved to within ten ranking points of Germany for the top spot.

Canada moved up based on its strong result at the recent Cyprus Cup, where the team made the tournament final before losing to sixth-ranked England.

England and Canada will meet again in a friendly in Hamilton on May 29.

China, who will be Canada's first opponent at the Women's World Cup on June 6, dropped three spots to 16th after a run of four draws and five losses.
