The Vancouver Canucks (1-0) face the Calgary Flames (0-1) in their 2015-16 home opener at Rogers Arena tonight. It’s a rematch of Wednesday’s season opener in which the Canucks doused the Flames 5-1 at the Saddledome.

Willie Desjardins will come right back with the same line-up that generated 44 shots on goal in the Game 1 victory. That means Brandon Sutter will once again skate on right wing with Daniel and Henrik Sedin. Each member of that trio scored on Wednesday and the line combined to produce six points. Sutter led all Vancouver forwards in ice-time during his Canucks debut logging 20:47 including a team-high 2:12 of penalty killing time.

Bo Horvat played 16:47 in his season debut. That was the third highest ice-time of his NHL career. He played 18:52 against Dallas last March and 17:36 in New Jersey last February. Included in Horvat’s ice-time on Wednesday was 2:29 of power play time and 1:02 on the penalty kill.

Rookie defenseman Ben Hutton registered an assist and played 17:03 in his NHL debut while fellow freshman Jared McCann saw 12:31 of ice time.

Ryan Miller made 29 stops including 16 in the third period to notch the victory in goal. He’ll get the start in goal again tonight.

Last season, the Canucks went 24-15-2 on home ice. With construction of a new sports bar inside the building, the capacity for hockey at Rogers Arena has changed this season. The building can now hold 18,570 fans, down 300 from the 18,870 capacity of a year ago.

The Flames are expected to make at least two changes to their line-up tonight. Jonas Hiller, who backed-up Karri Ramo in the opener, will get the start in goal tonight. While former Canuck Mason Raymond, who cleared waivers earlier in the week, will make his season debut. He’s likely to replace Josh Jooris in the Flames line-up on a line with Sam Bennett and Michael Frolik

Calgary was 22-17-2 on the road last season. Bob Hartley needs one more victory to reach 100 as head coach of the Flames. He is 99-96-18 now in his fourth season behind the Calgary bench.

After opening the season with back to back meetings, the Canucks and Flames won’t see each other until February. They will square off a total of five times this season – February 6th in Vancouver and February 19th and April 7th in Calgary.

The officials for tonight’s game are Mike Leggo & Ian Walsh along with linesmen Brad Lazarowich and Trent Knorr.
