TOKYO - Chelsea has reportedly made an offer for FC Tokyo striker Yoshinori Muto, although the Premier League club and manager Jose Mourinho wouldn't confirm it on Friday.

Kyodo news agency reported Thursday that Chelsea made the offer for Muto at the beginning of March. The 22-year-old Muto, who has made 11 appearances for Japan, was quoted by his country's media as saying he hasn't decided anything but appreciates the offer.

Chelsea said the club would not comment on the story and Mourinho added: "I don't think about players, about next season."

The English Premier League leaders signed Japanese tire manufacturer Yokohama as its new shirt sponsor in February in a five-year deal that could be worth more than $300 million. The Yokohama Rubber Company's branding will appear on Chelsea's kit from the start of the 2015-16 season, and the club said the deal will help Chelsea drive its expansion into international markets.

Muto began his professional career at Tokyo last year, scoring 13 goals in 33 games to match the first-division record for a player in his debut season. He has three goals in four games this season, and scored his first goal for Japan in a 2-2 draw against Venezuela on Sept. 9.
