Sidney Crosby remained in Game 6 on Monday night after crashing head-first into the boards behind the Washington Capitals' net late in the first period.

Crosby, who suffered a concussion on May 1 and missed Game 4, remained for several seconds after the collision before getting up and finishing his shift.

After the game, Penguins head coach Mike Sullivan said Crosby was not checked for a concussion after the incident.

Crosby, who led all Penguins forwards in ice time with 19:57, said he was checked for a head injury but the crash simply knocked the wind out of him.

"When you go in like that, it just kind of knocked the wind out of me," Crosby said, per ESPN. "Kind of a fluky fall. Not one you want to take too often."

Crosby was concussed in the first period of Game 3 on a hit by Matt Niskanen.

The Penguins captain has a documented history of concussions, including two in the previous eight months.

Crosby's focus after the game, however, was on his team's looming Game 7 on Wednesday night, forced by the Capitals' 5-2 rout on Monday.

“Nobody feels good about our game tonight,” Crosby told the Pittsburgh-Post Gazette. “We can talk about it all we want as far as not playing the way we need to to win games. I think it’s more about what we need to do to win the next one.”
