TURIN, Italy — France defender Patrice Evra has renewed his contract at Juventus, tying him to the Serie A champion to June 2017 with the option for one more year.

Evra joined Juventus from Manchester United in 2014 and won back-to-back league and cup doubles.

Shortly after the announcement of the deal on Monday, the 35-year-old wrote on Instagram: "2 years, 5 trophies! Same next 2 years plus The champion? ... My favourite question what i Will do with all these trophies?"

In its statement, Juventus says Evra's strength of character "shone through brilliantly" last season, when he and Gianluigi Buffon "helped to galvanize the group and instigate the record-breaking run of 85 points out of a possible 90" which sealed the club's fifth successive Italian league title.
