Forbes magazine compiled a list of the 50 most valuable sports teams and the Toronto Maple Leafs are the only NHL club to make the cut.

The Maple Leafs have been the NHL's most valuable franchise for nine straight years and come in this year at No. 37 with a value of $1.3 billion.

Real Madrid ranked number one for the third straight year at $3.26 billion, while the Dallas Cowboys and New York Yankees held the second spot at $3.2 billion.

Rounding out the top five are Barcelona at No. 4 worth $3.16 billion and Manchester United fifth at $3.1 billion.

The NFL had the most teams in the top 50 with 20 franchises, followed by MLB (12), NBA (10) and soccer (7). Formula One's Ferrari made the cut at No. 32 worth $1.35 billion.

According to Forbes, there are 62 sports franchises globally worth at least $1 billion.

Forbes has valued teams in the major sports leagues since 1998. The top 50 is based on Forbes' valuations done in the past year for the NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, F1, soccer and Nascar.
