Carolina Hurricanes defenceman James Wisniewski's season could be over after suffering a torn ACL in Thursday night's loss to the Nashville Predators.
The 31-year-old was acquired from the Anaheim Ducks in June in exchange for goaltender Anton Khudobin. He skated just 47 seconds in his Hurricanes debut before suffering the injury in his left knee. His recovery time is set at six months.
Wisniewski scored eight goals and added 26 assists in 69 games with the Columbus Blue Jackets and Anaheim Ducks last season.
The veteran of 552 NHL games has scored 53 goals and 274 points with the Chicago Blackhawks, Ducks, New York Islanders, Montreal Canadiens, Blue Jackets and Hurricanes.
