Toronto Maple Leafs forward Leo Komarov has been suspended three games for elbowing New York Rangers defenceman Ryan McDonagh.

Komarov was ejected and assessed a five-minute match penalty for his actions in Thursday's 4-2 loss to New York.

“Leo plays hard, but he’s not a dirty player,” head coach Mike Babcock said after the game. “Their guy was kind of crouched."

McDonagh had just returned from a concussion on Wednesday night. He missed four games after a sucker-punch by Philadelphia Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds.
