Toronto Maple Leafs defenceman Nikita Zaitsev is not expected to return to the lineup for Saturday’s Game 2 against the Washington Capitals, head coach Mike Babcock confirmed on Friday.

Zaitsev did not skate at practice on Friday.

The 25-year-old was injured in the Leafs' regular season finale against the Columbus Blue Jackets, exiting the game with an upper-body injury after being hit into the boards by Nick Foligno.

Martin Marincin replaced Zaitsev in the lineup for the Leafs' Game 1 OT defeat to the Capitals.
