Sweden's entry at the 2017 IIHF World Championship is getting an injection of royalty.

Henrik Lundqvist announced on Thursday that he will fly out to Germany on Friday to join the Tre Kronor for the remainder of the the tournament.

The New York Rangers goalkeeper joins his twin brother, Joel, and the team. Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Eddie Lack and former Edmonton Oilers and Anaheim Ducks goalie Viktor Fasth are Sweden's incumbent netminders.

This will mark the fifth worlds appearance for the 35-year-old Lundqvist and first since 2008.

Lundqvist has silver medals with Sweden in the 2003 and 2004 worlds. Sweden, with Lundqvist, lost in the bronze-medal game in 2005.

Sweden currently sits fifth in Group A after just one win in their first three games.

They play Latvia later on Thursday.
