The Minnesota Wild have suspended injured goaltender Josh Harding due to the fact that his fractured ankle is not a hockey related injury.

Harding is out indefinitely and as long as he is injured he will not be paid by the Wild, nor will his contract count against their salary cap.

Also, goaltender Darcy Kuemper agreed to terms on a one-way, two-year contract with the Wild on Thursday.

The contract has an annual average value of $1.25 million.

The Wild already have Niklas Backstrom signed heading into the season and Harding is expected to be out for months with his injury.

Last season, Kuemper appeared in six playoff games, including five starts, and posted a 2.03 goals against average for the Wild in 2013-14.

The Wild were eliminated in the second round of the playoffs in six games by the Chicago Blackhawks.
