The NHL Play of the Year showdown resumes today with some of the year’s best goaltending.

The fourth match-up of the Round of 32 pits Carter Hutton against Ondrej Pavalec with a pair of saves that had potential scorers looking skyward in disbelief.

The Toronto Maple Leafs were sure they had gotten one past Hutton.

Daniel Winnik watched his tip skip past Hutton towards a yawning cage. However, the Nashville Predators netminder spun in the crease and lunged with his stick, knocking the puck away – out of mid-air, no less – just inches from crossing the line.

Pavelec, meanwhile, got his glove out just in time to rob Colin Wilson of a surefire goal.

The Preds forward found himself alone in front with Pavelec moving the opposite way. The Winnipeg Jets keeper threw his body back towards Wilson and got his glove low to snare Wilson’s tap-in attempt from the doorstep.
