It appears Colin White's Ottawa Senators debut will have to wait until next season.

TSN Hockey Insider Bob McKenzie reports there is no deal imminent between the Senators and their 2015 first-round pick and the two sides are at a standstill in negotiations.

The Senators' preference, per McKenzie, would be for the Boston College standout to sign an amateur tryout and spend the remainder of the season with the AHL's Binghamton Senators. White would then sign his entry-level contract ahead of the 2017-18 season.

White, however, does not appear to have interest in playing in the AHL this season, which is holding up negotiations.

If White were to appear in any NHL game this season, once signed, he would burn the first of his three years off of his entry-level deal.

The 20-year-old centre scored 16 goals and added 17 assists in 35 games with the Eagles this season. He was selected 21st overall in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
