William Nylander returned to the Toronto Marlies lineup on Friday night and helped the team to a 4-2 victory over the Grand Rapids Griffins.

Nylander, playing for the first time since the World Juniors, had an assist in the contest.

The 2014 first-round pick would have returned sooner if not for a bout with appendicitis after suffering a concussion at the tournament, Nylander told Todd Crocker of Leafs TV .

Nylander has scored 14 goals and tallied 34 points in 27 games with the Marlies this season.

The Maple Leafs prospect suffered the concussion in Sweden's first game of the World Junior tournament, taking a hit to head from Swiss forward Chris Egli.

The 19-year-old was the American Hockey League's leading scorer when he departed to join Team Sweden.
