MADRID - Real Madrid says it has signed teenage prospect Jesus Vallejo on a six-year contract, although the central defender will remain on loan with his current club Real Zaragoza for next season.

Madrid and second-division Zaragoza reached a deal for the 18-year-old player on Friday, the teams said in statements on their websites.

Spanish media reports say Madrid paid 5 million euros ($5.5 million) for the 18-year-old, who is expected to join Rafa Benitez's squad in the summer of 2016.

Vallejo captained Spain's under-19 team that won the European championship in Greece this month and made 34 league appearances in Spain's second division for Zaragoza last season.
