The Toronto Blue Jays have signed designated hitter Kendrys Morales to a three-year, $33 million deal, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

The deal is pending a physical.

The 33-year-old hit .263 with 30 home runs and 93 RBIs over 154 games with the Kansas City Royals in 2016, his second season with the club. He also had a .327 on-base percentage and a .468 slugging percentage. He won a World Series with the Royals in 2015.

Morales has a career .273 average with 162 homers and 586 RBIs over 1030 games with the Los Angeles Angles, Seattle Mariners, Minnesota Twins and Royals.

The Cuban missed most of the 2010 season and all of 2011 after breaking his leg during a celebration of a walk-off home run he hit as member of the Angels.

Morales is a switch hitter, giving the Jays a much needed left-handed bat in their everyday lineup.

However, the addition of Morales may be a sign that the Jays are no longer in the market to bring back free-agent slugger Edwin Encarnacion. The Boston Red Sox have reportedly shown interest in the long-time Blue Jay.
