Dallas Stars forward Patrick Sharp was forced to exit Thursday's loss to the Los Angeles Kings due to a concussion-like symptoms.

Stars head coach Lindy Ruff indicated after the 4-3 overtime loss Sharp could be long-term.

The 34-year-old suffered the injury in the second period when he was hit by Brayden McNabb while entering the Kings' zone on a power play.

Sharp owns one assist through four games this season. He scored 20 goals and added 35 assists in 70 games with the Stars last season.

The Winnipeg native is a veteran of 825 career games with the Stars, Chicago Blackhawks and the Philadelphia Flyers.

The Stars have opened the season 2-1-1 and host the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday.
