The Dallas Stars have signed goaltender Ben Bishop to a six-year, $29.5 million contract.

The holds an average annual value of $4.92 million through the 2022-23 season. According to TSN Hockey Insider Pierre LeBrun, the deal holds a no-move clause throughout and limited no-trade clause in the final three seasons, therefore he is automatically protected in June's Vegas expansion draft.

Bishop, who was acquired by the Stars on Tuesday from the Los Angeles Kings for a fourth-round draft pick, was slated to become an unrestricted free agent in July.

"As I stated previously, Ben is an elite goaltender in this League and we're thrilled to be adding him to our mix," Stars general manager Jim Nill said in a release. "Ben's commitment to what we are building in Dallas, and his passion for wanting to be a part of it, was evident during the negotiating process. We are excited to have him under contract for the next six seasons."

The 30-year-old posted a 18-15-5 record with a 2.54 goals-against average and a .910 save percentage with a single shutout over 39 games split between the Tampa Bay Lightning and Kings in 2016-17. The Bolts sent Bishop to the Kings in late February before the Trade Deadline.

Bishop, a two-time Vezina award finalist, played the final season of a two-year, $11.9 million contract this past season.

The Stars already have both Kari Lehtonen and Antti Niemi under contract at goaltender next season with a combined cap hit of $10.4 million. The Stars are reportedly likely to buy out Niemi should neither be taken by the Golden Knights in the expansion draft.

Bishop's deal will pay him $7 million in year one, $6.5 million in year two, $5.5 million in year three, and $3.5 million in each of the final three seasons.

Bishop holds a 148-80-25 record with a 2.32 GAA and a 0.919 SV with 19 shutouts over 270 career games with the St. Louis Blues, Ottawa Senators, Lightning and Kings. He's best known for helping lead Tampa to the Stanley Cup Final in 2015, losing to the Chicago Blackhawks in six games. Bishop posted a 13-11 record with a 2.18 GAA and a .921 SV with three shutouts over 25 contests during that playoff run.
