Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner California Chrome will return to racing in September, when the colt is set to run in the $1 million Pennsylvania Derby. He has been idle since finishing fourth in the Belmont Stakes on June 7, ending a six-race winning streak and hopes for the sport's first Triple Crown winner since 1978. New Additions

The series that decides which 20 horses qualify to run in the Kentucky Derby is adding a new qualifier. Churchill Downs announced Wednesday that the $500,000 Los Alamitos Futurity to be run on Dec. 20 will award qualifying points. Full Story.

On Holiday

Ami's Holiday has won the 124th running of the $500,000 Breeders' Stakes, the third and final jewel of the Canadian Triple Crown. The 2-to-1 shot, ridden by Luis Contreras, came on strong down the stretch to pass Squeeze the King and win the 1 1/2-mile turf race. Full Story.
