The Ottawa Senators are crossing their fingers that injured forward Tom Pyatt and defenceman Mark Borowiecki will be ready to suit up for Game 1 of their second round series against the New York Rangers Thursday night.

Pyatt, 30, missed the last two games of the Boston Bruins series with both an upper and lower-body injury. Head coach Guy Boucher said Tuesday that his upper-body injury is fine, but the lower-body problem will keep him listed as questionable for Thursday's contest in the nation's capital.

Borowiecki hasn't played since Game 2 of the first round with a lower-body injury, but is back skating with the team.

Pyatt scored nine goals and added 14 assists over 82 games with the Senators in 2016-17 while Borowiecki, 27, contributed a single goal with a couple helpers in 70 games.

Boucher: Hoping to have everybody available for Game 1

Guy Boucher meets the media at the CTC to look ahead to the second round against the Rangers.

On the Erik Karlsson front, the captain said he decided to reveal the extent of his foot injury following the Boston series win because he was tired of talking about it. Karlsson said that he had been playing with two hairline fractures in his foot after blocking a shot in a game last week.

It's unusual for players to disclose their injuries before being eliminated from the playoffs, but the team is saying the Swede's foot problem is completed recovered.

Karlsson hasn't missed any games for the Senators this postseason, and has six assists in six games through the first round.
